The tesaurex privacy promise

tesaurex builds software that does its job and then gets out of the way. That applies to your information as much as it applies to your screen.

Project Tesoro does not collect or store your media information. What you listen to and what you watch is not gathered by tesaurex, not built into a profile, and not sold to anyone. There is no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no advertising business behind any of it.

This page describes what tesaurex itself does. It does not attempt to speak for the wider internet: like any website, this one is delivered over a network by a hosting provider, and providers keep their own operational records for the ordinary purpose of serving and protecting a site. tesaurex does not use those records to identify, profile, or track you.

This website

tesaurex.com is a set of static pages. It has no backend, no database, and no login. Specifically:

• No tesaurex analytics.
• No tesaurex tracking.
• No advertising.
• No login or user account on this site.
• No marketing profile.
• No sale of personal information.

The site sets no cookies of its own, loads no third-party scripts, embeds no remote fonts, and calls no external services. Every image, style, script, and video is served from tesaurex.com itself. There are no forms on this website, so there is nothing here to submit personal information into.

Project Tesoro

Project Tesoro shows what is currently playing on your Mac: artwork, title, artist, playback state, and position. It reads that information so it can display it to you, and it stops there.

Media information stays on your Mac. What you listen to and what you watch is not sent to tesaurex, not sent anywhere else, and not written to any tesaurex service. Project Tesoro includes no analytics and no telemetry of any kind.

No account is required for the current private beta.

Permissions Project Tesoro uses

Project Tesoro asks for one kind of permission, and only for the media apps it supports:

• macOS Automation permission, for supported media applications — Apple Music, Spotify, and QuickTime Player. This is the standard macOS mechanism that lets one app ask another what it is playing and control playback.

macOS asks you to approve this per app, the first time it is needed. You can review or revoke it at any time in System Settings under Privacy & Security, in Automation.

Permissions Project Tesoro does not use

• No Screen Recording permission.
• No Accessibility permission.
• No Input Monitoring.
• No microphone access.
• No camera access.
• No Full Disk Access.
• No reading of browser history or browser page content.

Project Tesoro does not scrape browsers or read browser content. It works only through the public macOS interfaces that media applications deliberately expose.

Local media and artwork handling

Artwork is loaded and processed on your Mac. The colors the four-element visualizer uses are derived from the artwork locally, and a bounded cache keeps recently seen artwork so that returning to a track does not repeat the work.

That cache lives on your Mac and holds artwork only. It is not transmitted anywhere, and removing Project Tesoro removes it. No listening history, playback log, or usage record is kept by tesaurex.

Feedback Portal

A Feedback Portal — a dedicated place to report problems, share private-beta feedback, and suggest improvements — is Coming Soon. It is not available yet, and there is no form, address, or submission system on this website today.

When the Feedback Portal opens, this page will describe what it collects and what happens to it before it accepts anything. Until then, nothing is being gathered.

Future changes

If any of this changes — for example when the Feedback Portal opens — this page is updated first, with the date at the top. tesaurex will not quietly start collecting information that this page says it does not collect.

Project Tesoro is in private beta and is still being developed. Its privacy behavior described here is a design commitment, not a temporary state of the beta.
